Drop Vertical Jump

Overview

The drop vertical jump is a plyometric movement assessment that involves dropping from a platform and immediately performing an explosive vertical jump upon landing. This movement is commonly used in athletic assessment and injury prevention screening as it provides valuable information about landing mechanics, reactive strength, and lower extremity neuromuscular control.

Events

MetricData TypeDescription
InitiationIntthe start of the jump - when the person begins to move downwawrd
BottomIntthe lowest point of the pelvis before the jump
TakeoffIntthe instant of leaving the ground
Peak HeightIntthe instant when maximum height reached
LandingIntthe instant of ground contact
Landing BottomIntthe lowest point of the pelvis after the jump
TerminationIntend of the movement - when the person returns to normal standing position
