Technical Details
- Variable Type: Discrete Metric
- Data Type: Float
- Units: degrees/s
- Column Name: Varies by phase (see Events/Phases); left/right in bilateral, single value in single-leg
- Measurement: Maximum rate of change of knee angle during the specified concentric phase
Events / Phases
This metric can be reported during the following concentric phases:- Takeoff Concentric: From Bottom to Takeoff.
- Maximum knee extension velocity during the propulsive jumping phase.
- Column examples:
jumping_left_knee_peak_extension_velocity,jumping_right_knee_peak_extension_velocity(bilateral);jumping_knee_peak_extension_velocity(single-leg).
- Landing Concentric: From Landing Bottom to Termination.
- Maximum knee extension velocity during the stand-up phase.
- Column names vary by implementation; left/right in bilateral.
Description
Peak knee extension velocity is the maximum angular velocity of knee extension during a concentric phase—either the push phase of the jump (takeoff concentric) or the stand-up phase after landing (landing concentric). It reflects knee power and contribution to takeoff or recovery. The phase determines which column name applies.Use Cases
- Knee power and contribution to jump or stand-up
- Kinematic sequence and timing
