Technical Details

  • Variable Type: Discrete Metric
  • Data Type: Float
  • Units: × height (ratio to athlete height)
  • Column Name: max_back_knee_valgus_upward_per_ht
  • Measurement: Maximum medial (inward) displacement of the back knee during the serve, divided by athlete height

Description

Max back knee valgus (normalized) measures how far the back knee collapses inward, toward the centerline of the body, at its most extreme point during the serve, expressed as a multiple of the athlete’s height. More negative values indicate greater inward collapse. It is closely related to the Loading Phase Excessive Knee Valgus movement flag.

Use Cases

  • Injury risk identification
  • Lower-body mechanics evaluation
  • Related to Loading Phase Excessive Knee Valgus flag
