# Loading Phase Pinpoint Break

> If the athlete breaks from a pinpoint stance during loading.

## Technical Details

* **Variable Type:** Movement Flag
* **Data Type:** Integer
* **Units:** N/A
* **Column Name:** `loading_phase_pinpoint_break`
* **Optimal Direction:** Lower is better
* **Unknown Value:** -1
* **Measurement:** Front ankle position relative to back ankle (in the serve direction) at [Low Arm](/biomechanics/activities/tennis/events/low-arm)
* **Threshold:** Front ankle is further forward than the back ankle at low arm

## Description

Loading phase pinpoint break is a binary indicator that flags when a player breaks their pinpoint stance.
This occurs if the back ankle (dominant side) moves forward closer to the baseline than the front ankle (non-dominant side) at the low arm event.
Breaking the pinpoint position can reduce base stability during the loading phase.

## Use Cases

* Stance consistency assessment
* Mechanics evaluation
