# Loading Phase Excessive Knee Valgus

## Description

Loading phase excessive knee valgus is a binary indicator that flags when either the front or back knee is classified as having a "high" level of inward (valgus) collapse during the loading phase, which is a common indicator of increased lower-body injury risk.

High knee valgus occurs when the knee moves medially (inwards towards the centerline of the body) more than 6% of height.
Moderate knee valgus occurs when the knee moves medially more than 2% of body height.
Normalized distances (% of height) aid in metric consistency across athletes of various sizes.
