Technical Details

  • Variable Type: Discrete Metric
  • Data Type: Float
  • Units: m/s
  • Column Name: peak_rise_velocity, mean_peak_rise_velocity
  • Optimal Direction: Higher is better
  • Measurement: Maximum upward vertical velocity of the body center of mass from Seat Off to Stand. If the body center of mass is unavailable, the hip center (pelvis keypoint) is used.

Variants

  • Peak Rise Velocity (peak_rise_velocity) (per repetition)
  • Mean Peak Rise Velocity (mean_peak_rise_velocity) (summary): average Peak Rise Velocity across all analyzed repetitions.

Description

Peak Rise Velocity is the fastest upward speed the body reaches while standing up. Higher values reflect a more explosive rise and are closely related to lower extremity power.

Use Cases

  • Rise explosiveness
  • Tracking power-related changes over time
  • Complement to Relative Power
