# Max Trunk Angle

> Maximum sagittal plane trunk angle relative to vertical during the squat.

## Technical Details

* **Variable Type:** Discrete Metric
* **Data Type:** Float
* **Units:** degrees (°)
* **Column Name:** \`\`
* **Aggregation:** mean
* **Precision:** 0
* **Optimal Direction:** Middle — moderate values are optimal
* **Measurement:** Maximum trunk angle relative to vertical during the squat

## Events / Phases

* **Bodyweight squat:** `max trunk angle`
* **SFMA squat:** `sfma_squat_trunk_peak_angle`

## Description

Max trunk angle captures how far forward (or from vertical) the trunk leans at its maximum during the squat. It is used in bodyweight and SFMA squat assessments to describe posture and compensation.

## Use Cases

* Posture and forward lean assessment
* SFMA movement quality
* Comparison with normative or task-specific targets
