# Lack of Knee Drive

> Binary indicator if the loading knee fails to drive past the toe before the drive phase.

## Technical Details

* **Variable Type:** Discrete Metric
* **Data Type:** Boolean
* **Units:** True/False
* **Column Name:** `lack_of_knee_drive_flag`
* **Aggregation:** rate
* **Precision:** 0
* **Optimal Direction:** Lower is better
* **Unknown Value:** -1
* **Measurement:** Loading knee position relative to the ankle at drive start
* **Threshold:** Loading knee does not pass in front of the ankle

## Description

Lack of knee drive is a binary indicator that flags when the loading (dominant-side) knee does not drive forward past its own toe by the start of the drive phase, indicating reduced lower-body power generation into the delivery.

## Use Cases

* Leg drive assessment
* Power generation evaluation

## Corrective Drills

### 1. Knee-Over-Toe Drive Drill

From the balance point at max knee raise, practice driving the loading knee forward past the toe before initiating the step, pausing briefly to check position. Use a side-view mirror or video to confirm the knee clears the toe. Perform 3 sets of 10 repetitions.

### 2. Resistance Band Knee Drive

Attach a light resistance band around the loading knee, anchored behind the pitcher. Practice driving the knee forward against the band's resistance to reinforce an aggressive, forward knee drive pattern. Perform 2 sets of 8-10 repetitions per side.
