Overview
Shoulder flexion assessment evaluates the range of motion and quality of movement in the shoulder during forward elevation.Instructions
Stand upright with arms at your sides. Raise the testing arm forward and overhead as far as possible, keeping the elbow straight and thumb pointing up. Hold briefly at maximum elevation, then lower back to the starting position. Repeat on the opposite side.Example Videos

Discrete Metrics
| Metric | Units | Description | Column Name |
|---|---|---|---|
| MaxFlexion | degrees | Maximum shoulder flexion | shoulder_flexion_max_flexion_angle |
| MaxExtension | degrees | Maximum shoulder extension | shoulder_flexion_max_extension_angle |
| SufficientFlexion | - | Whether flexion is sufficient (≥ 165°) | shoulder_flexion_functional_flexion |
| SufficientExtension | - | Whether extension is sufficient (≥ 40°) | shoulder_flexion_functional_extension |
Notes
- Measurements are based on ShoulderAngleWRTTrunkXYZ.X
- Sufficient flexion is defined as ≥ 165°
- Sufficient extension is defined as ≥ 40°
