Description
Hip knee dominance describes how much the athlete uses the hip versus the knee joint during the descent or ascent of the forward lunge. A value of 0 indicates a hip-dominant strategy; 1 indicates a knee-dominant strategy. Only the lead (stepping) leg is computed based on footedness. The ratio is determined by the relative amount of range of motion used at the hip and knee joints.Use Cases
- Movement strategy assessment and coaching feedback
- Injury risk screening (e.g., excessive knee-dominant loading)
- Comparison of eccentric vs. concentric loading strategies
