Technical Details

  • Variable Type: Discrete Metric
  • Data Type: Float
  • Units: degrees (°)
  • Column Name: lunge_forward_max_right_ankle_flexion_angle, lunge_forward_max_left_ankle_flexion_angle
  • Measurement: Maximum ankle dorsiflexion from Initiation to End

Description

Max ankle flexion angle is the peak dorsiflexion achieved at each ankle during the lunge. The 90° offset normalizes the angle so that 0° represents neutral (perpendicular shank–foot alignment). Greater dorsiflexion reflects better ankle mobility, which supports deeper and more controlled lunge positions. Both sides are reported regardless of footedness.

Use Cases

  • Ankle dorsiflexion mobility assessment
  • Bilateral ankle mobility comparison
  • Identifying ankle restrictions limiting lunge depth or form
