# Stiff Knee Landing

> Binary indicator of stiff knee landing (reduced knee flexion during landing absorption).

## Technical Details

* **Variable Type:** Discrete Metric
* **Data Type:** Boolean (binary)
* **Units:** 1 = stiff landing present, 0 = no
* **Column Name:** `stiff_knee_landing`
* **Aggregation:** rate
* **Precision:** 0
* **Optimal Direction:** Lower is better
* **Measurement:** Indicator of insufficient knee flexion during landing absorption
* **Threshold:** under 30 deg for bilateral jumps, under 20 deg for single leg jumps

## Description

Stiff knee landing is a binary flag indicating that the athlete landed with relatively stiff knees.
Stiff landings increase impact forces and are associated with higher injury risk compared to softer landings that use more knee flexion for absorption.

## Use Cases

* Landing technique and injury risk screening
* Coaching feedback for “soft” landings
* ACL and lower extremity injury prevention
