Technical Details

  • Variable Type: Discrete Metric
  • Data Type: Float
  • Units: degrees/s
  • Column Name: (varies by jump type; left/right in bilateral)
  • Measurement: Maximum rate of change of shoulder flexion angle during bottom to takeoff (arm swing)

Description

Peak shoulder flexion velocity takeoff concentric quantifies the amount of arm swing one uses for a jump. It specifically measuress the maximum angular velocity of shoulder flexion during the concentric (push) phase. It contributes to jump height and reflects upper body coordination. Bilateral jumps may report left and right separately.

Use Cases

  • Arm swing contribution to jump height
  • Upper-lower body coordination
