# Peak Hip Extension Velocity

> Maximum hip extension angular velocity during a concentric phase.

## Events / Phases

This metric can be reported during the following concentric phases:

* **Takeoff Concentric:** From [Bottom](/biomechanics/activities/jump/events/bottom) to [Takeoff](/biomechanics/activities/jump/events/takeoff).
  * Maximum hip extension velocity during the propulsive jumping phase.
  * Column examples: `jumping_left_hip_peak_extension_velocity`, `jumping_right_hip_peak_extension_velocity` (bilateral); `jumping_hip_peak_extension_velocity` (single-leg).
* **Landing Concentric:** From [Landing Bottom](/biomechanics/activities/jump/events/landing-bottom) to [Termination](/biomechanics/activities/jump/events/termination).
  * Maximum hip extension velocity during the return to stand after landing.

## Description

Peak hip extension velocity is the maximum angular velocity of hip extension during a concentric phase—either the push phase of the jump (takeoff concentric) or the stand-up phase after landing (landing concentric).
It is a key contributor to jump performance and reflects hip power. The phase determines which column name applies.
