# Peak Ankle Angle

> Maximum ankle flexion (dorsiflexion) angle at a given phase or event.

## Events / Phases

* **During Takeoff:** Maximum ankle flexion during the jumping phase (initiation to [Takeoff](/biomechanics/activities/jump/events/takeoff)).
  * Column examples: `jumping_left_ankle_peak_flexion_angle`, `jumping_right_ankle_peak_flexion_angle` (bilateral); `jumping_ankle_peak_flexion_angle` (single-leg).
* **During Landing:** Maximum ankle flexion during the landing absorption phase ([Landing](/biomechanics/activities/jump/events/landing) to [Landing Bottom](/biomechanics/activities/jump/events/landing-bottom)).
  * Column examples: `landing_left_ankle_peak_flexion_angle`, `landing_right_ankle_peak_flexion_angle` (bilateral); `landing_ankle_peak_flexion_angle` (single-leg).

## Description

Peak ankle flexion refers to the maximum ankle dorsiflexion angle during takeoff or landing.
It reflects ankle range of motion, loading, and absorption, and can also help identify side-side asymmetries.
The side and phase determines which column name applies.
